About the Role
Reservoir Supervising Engineer at Yorkshire Water, part of the Water Service Delivery team. You will lead safe operation and statutory compliance of reservoirs, supervise maintenance, and support a structured training program.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safe operation and statutory compliance under Reservoirs Act 1975.
- Supervise operation and maintenance of reservoirs and produce annual performance statements.
- Take legal responsibility for reservoir safety at all times.
- Support development and implementation of structured training to become a fully competent Reservoir Supervising Engineer within 4 years.
- Provide expert advice on reservoir safety and integrity as part of a specialist team.
- Apply risk management principles to protect and improve reservoir assets.
- Plan and carry out asset management activities including inspections, maintenance prioritisation, and major works.
- Develop and maintain integrated asset policies covering design, operation, maintenance, and investment decisions.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, business plans, and regulatory targets in all asset‑related policies.
- Contribute to capital investment programmes for reservoir assets.
- Promote and maintain Yorkshire Water’s reputation as a responsible reservoir undertaker.
Qualifications
- Strong technical and engineering expertise in design, operation, and maintenance.
- Degree‑level qualification in Civil Engineering.
- In‑depth understanding of engineering specifications, design guidance, and site process safety.
- Valid appointment by Defra as a member of the Supervising Engineers Panel (essential).
- Ability to work in confined spaces and meet strict medical criteria (BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, and spirometry tests).
- Knowledge of end‑to‑end delivery processes, project management plans, risk management, quality techniques, and cost models.
- Excellent communication skills to build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and support change initiatives.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Outlook.
