Job description

Job Title: Research Assistant

We are currently seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to join a leading Protein Structure & Biophysics department within the Discovery Science sector. The successful candidate will contribute to the biophysical and structural characterization of target proteins, supporting the identification of new drug targets and the development of novel antibody therapeutics.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform molecular biology tasks, including cloning, transformations, and bacterial cell culture, along with small and large-scale DNA preparation.
• Maintain mammalian cell lines, conduct transfections, and harvest supernatants and cell pellets.
• Engage in small-scale protein purification and analysis, as well as the preparation of cell membranes.
• Manage biologics sample aliquoting, maintain accurate records using Excel and barcode scanning software, and respond to sample requests.

Role Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

• A relevant degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent.
• Proven industry experience in bacterial and mammalian cell culture.
• Practical knowledge of handling large numbers of samples and experience with pipetting (manual, electronic, single, and multichannel).
