Job Description:

An excellent opportunity to work for a leading client within the science and technology industry. We are currently recruiting for an R&D Scientist to work as part of a high-performing team specializing in the development of display technology materials, collaborating with some of the world's leading brands.

The role will be based at their Research Labs in Southampton and will require on-site presence 5 days a week. The position is heavily hands-on and lab-based, responsible for presenting data and research findings to stakeholders and your team.

Experience in Liquid Crystals, Polymer Science, Reactive Mesogens, or material science is favorable.

We seek a passionate, motivated, and team-oriented individual to join a well-established team that offers excellent support, advice, and guidance.

Role Responsibilities:

• Measuring physical properties of samples (viscosity, VHR, UV/Vis transmission) and films (retardation profiles, polymerization extent, surface energy, film profile, hardness, adhesion, blocking resistance, durability).
• Demonstrating a passion for Science and Technology.
• Being collaborative and flexible.
• Making informed decisions and being accountable.
• Technical expertise in Liquid Crystals, Polymer Science, Reactive Mesogens, or material science is favorable.
• Preparing RM mixtures and solutions traceably.
• Handling complexity in a multi-national environment with diverse stakeholders across various tech fields like AR/VR, Lenses, LIDAR, and Holography.
• Preparing RM films using various coating techniques, including coatable polarizer films.
• Measuring properties of samples and films accurately.
• Performing hands-on lab work in an agile environment.
• Preparing technical reports and presenting findings.
• Developing innovative solutions in Digital Optics for AR/VR.
• Carrying out non-routine technical tasks to produce and characterize RM films.
• Proactively interacting with internal technical teams and customers.
• Developing new materials, IP, and technical opportunities.
• Ensuring work is completed according to deadlines and quality standards.
• Achieving technical breakthroughs and providing clear reports.
• Ensuring safety and proper use of lab equipment.
