We currently have a Repair Workshop Technical Assistant position available for a motivated individual to join our team in Exeter. This is a full-time role with a competitive salary of £25,000 - £26,000 per annum, plus excellent benefits.

About the role:

The Repair Workshop Technical Assistant will enhance asset repair activities, workflow processes, and technical inquiries at the Repair Workshop (RWS) based in Exeter, ensuring efficient daily operations.

What you will be doing:
  • Managing workshop communication with external suppliers and internal customers, including work prioritization.
  • Coordinating with departments to manage risks related to “out of service” assets.
  • Providing administrative support to Repair Workshop facilities to promote best practices.
  • Issuing Repair Workshop job packs to Craftspeople.
  • Monitoring and managing the Repair Workshop mailbox for correspondence.
  • Understanding technical aspects of workshop activities to support decisions with the Craft Team, suppliers, and customers.
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding technical requirements, pricing, and deliveries.
  • Supporting asset customization via the company’s asset management platform (MADE).
  • Providing reports to the Regional Repair Workshop Manager.
  • Advising customers on repair versus replacement costs and options.
  • Organizing repair documentation and job files to meet ISO, Health & Safety, and ATEX standards.
  • Reviewing processes and procedures annually and recommending updates.
  • Managing statutory inspections related to the Repair Workshop.
  • Creating work orders for incoming assets requiring repair and managing subsequent repair processes.
  • Handling goods receipt for purchase orders according to ‘Procure to Pay’ rules.
  • Participating in team meetings, recording minutes and actions.
  • Managing PPE and tools procurement for the workshop.
  • Addressing supplier or service provider issues, including raising Vendor Concern Reports.
  • Providing repair process updates and feedback to customers as needed.
What we are looking for:
  • Experience handling customer inquiries promptly and effectively.
  • Proven experience in a busy office environment.
  • Data analysis skills supporting root cause analysis of failed assets.
  • Experience working with external suppliers, service providers, and contractors.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Mathematics, English, and another subject (or equivalent).
