Job summary

East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust is seeking a Nurse Team Leader for Ward 6B, the acute inpatient renal ward, a 25-bed unit within a tertiary renal referral centre. The post holder will share leadership with the Ward Manager, combining direct patient care with managing staff competencies, protocols and care pathways.

The role includes running the peritoneal dialysis information service at weekends and out of hours, with scope to develop skills in dialysis and renal replacement

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with NMC registration (Part 1 or Part 12).
• Evidence of leadership training or experience.
• Mentorship/preceptorship training would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Promote high standards of professional practice in line with policies.
• Co-lead the 25-bed renal ward with the Ward Manager and manage staff competencies.
• Provide direct patient care and act as a senior point of reassurance for patients and staff.
• Discuss patient transfers with the team and develop care pathways.
• Develop and review competencies, protocols and care pathways with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
• Manage the peritoneal dialysis information service at weekends and out of hours.
