Job Description:

An In House Commercial Property Lawyer (Landlord and Tenant) is sought by a business founded in the early 1900s.

The company wishes to add to its legal team, which currently has two members, with the appointment of a Commercial Property Lawyer with at least 5 years PQE. The successful candidate will assist the Group Legal Estates Director in providing expert and strategic legal advice to the Board. Responsibilities include responding efficiently to business requests to secure new sites, minimizing disposal costs for closed branches, and acting swiftly on transactions. The role can be based in Essex or fully remote.

Main Duties:

• Managing property portfolio, including leases, renewals, transfers, and applications for consent, variations, and surrender of leases.
• Handling acquisitions and disposals of commercial properties, including options, contracts, and agreements.
• Assisting with portfolio management, liaising with the Group Estates Director.
• Ensuring acquisition and disposal activities are in line with Board approvals.
• Minimizing costs and liabilities related to closed branches.
• Addressing queries related to business rates, service charges, and insurance invoices.
