Job Description:

An In-House Commercial Property Lawyer (Landlord and Tenant) is sought by a business founded in the early 1900s.

The company wishes to add to its legal team, which currently has two members, by appointing a Commercial Property Lawyer with at least 5 years PQE. The successful candidate will assist the Group Legal Estates Director in providing expert and strategic legal advice for the Board. Responsibilities include responding efficiently to business requests to secure new sites, minimizing disposal costs for closed branches, and acting swiftly on transactions. The role can be based in Essex or work remotely.

Main Duties:

• Managing property portfolio matters, including grants and renewals of commercial leases, lease transfers, applications for consents, variations, surrendering leases, settlement agreements, acquisitions, disposals, options, contracts, pre-emption agreements, exclusivity, confidential agreements, wayleave agreements, easements, parking licenses, and assured shorthold tenancies.
• Assisting with portfolio management, lease, legal, and maintenance issues, liaising with the Group Estates Director as needed.
• Handling acquisitions and disposals of properties following Board approvals.
• Minimizing costs and liabilities for closed branches by acting promptly.
• Managing queries related to business rates, service charges, and insurance invoices.
