Job Description:

An In House Commercial Property Lawyer (Landlord and Tenant) is sought by a business founded in the early 1900s.

The company wishes to add to its legal team, which currently has two members, with a Commercial Property Lawyer with at least 5 years PQE. The successful candidate will assist the Group Legal Estates Director in providing expert legal advice to the Board, responding efficiently to business requests related to property transactions, site acquisitions, and disposals. The role can be based in Essex or fully remote.

Main Duties include:

• Managing property portfolio matters such as leases, renewals, transfers, and applications for consent to assignments, under-letting, or alterations.
• Handling lease variations, surrender agreements, and property acquisitions/disposals.
• Managing legal aspects of leases, including options, pre-emption rights, exclusivity, and easements.
• Assisting with portfolio management, liaising with the Group Estates Director.
• Ensuring property transactions are approved by the Board and costs are minimized.
• Addressing queries related to business rates, service charges, and insurance.
