Job Description:

An In-House Commercial Property Lawyer (Landlord and Tenant) is sought by a business founded in the early 1900s.

The company wishes to expand its legal team, which currently includes two members, by appointing a Commercial Property Lawyer with at least 5 years PQE. The role involves supporting the Group Legal Estates Director in providing strategic legal advice to the Board and managing property transactions efficiently. The position can be based in Essex or be fully remote.

Main Duties include:

• Managing property portfolio matters such as lease grants, renewals, transfers, and variations, including consent applications, surrender agreements, and lease assignments.
• Handling property acquisitions and disposals, options, conditional contracts, and pre-emption rights.
• Managing lease, legal, and maintenance issues in collaboration with the Group Estates Director.
• Ensuring property transactions comply with Board approvals.
• Minimizing costs and liabilities related to closed branches.
• Addressing queries regarding business rates, service charges, and insurance invoices.
