Job Description:

An In-House Commercial Property Lawyer (Landlord and Tenant) is sought by a business founded in the early 1900s.

The company wishes to add to its legal team, which currently has two members, by appointing a Commercial Property Lawyer with at least 5 years PQE. The successful candidate will assist the Group Legal Estates Director in providing expert and strategic legal advice for the Board. Responsibilities include securing new sites, minimizing disposal costs for closed branches, and acting swiftly on transactions. The role can be based in Essex or be fully remote.

Main Duties:

• Managing property portfolio matters such as leases, renewals, transfers, and consent applications.
• Handling lease variations, surrender agreements, and property acquisitions/disposals.
• Managing legal issues related to the property portfolio, liaising with the Group Estates Director.
• Ensuring property transactions are approved by the Board.
• Minimizing costs and liabilities for closed branches.
• Dealing with business rates, service charges, and insurance invoices.
