Job summary

Kirklees Council is seeking a Virtual School Service Manager to work with the Virtual School Headteacher and oversee children and young people in care as one cohort. You will identify gaps, coordinate provision with schools, providers and strategic leads, and monitor attainment, progress and attendance.

Qualifications

• Experience in an educational setting.
• Leadership and management experience within a learning setting or local authority.
• Knowledge of processes for Children and Young People in Care (care planning, review framework, accountability).
• Understanding the needs of care-experienced young people to progress in learning.
• Knowledge of legislation and national guidance relating to learning and care of care-experienced young people.

Responsibilities

• Oversee our care-experienced children and young people as one Virtual School cohort and identify gaps in provision.
• Work with schools, providers and strategic leads to ensure appropriate provision and monitor attainment, progress and attendance.
• Lead the team of Leads and Achievement Coordinators to drive forward this work for individual young people.
• Collaborate with Social Workers, Managers, Headteachers and Designated Teachers to ensure integrated ways of working.
