Job summary

Hampshire County Council’s Virtual School invites applications for a Virtual School Education Adviser to improve the educational experiences and outcomes of children in care. You will lead training, support and challenge colleagues across schools, education and social care, develop high-quality PEPs, analyse data and drive interventions to raise achievement and inclusion.

This is a 12-month temporary post with a collaborative, supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified teacher with ability to lead on training and data analysis.

  • Ability to work with schools, social care and multi-agency partners.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Hampshire Virtual School to lead on improving the educational experiences and outcomes of children in care, as a Virtual School Education Adviser.

What you’ll do:

As an Education Adviser, you will ensure the needs of children are at the heart of your practice, leading on training, supporting and challenging colleagues and partners across schools, education and social care to ensure there is unwavering focus on the achievement, inclusion and success of all our children.

You will be joining an outstanding Children’s Service which is committed and successful in meeting the needs of vulnerable children. You will have a wide range of opportunities to work closely with colleagues across the Education and Inclusion, and Children and Families Branch.

Key Decision-Making Areas in the Role

  • Make recommendations for developing high-quality personal education plans (PEPs) for individual children and young people on behalf of the Virtual School, identifying further actions to secure improvements and agreeing further interventions and support to drive up standards and impact on achievement.
  • Help designated teachers, social workers and carers or other services to plan interventions that will meet the needs and address the risks of individual children, in order that they attend school, make good progress and achieve good educational outcomes.
  • Use wide range of educational data to plan and/or commission further interventions to ensure improvement in outcomes for children and young people.

As a qualified teacher, you will use your skills, knowledge and expertise to be ambitious and aspirational for all our children and young people. You will work closely with local authority colleagues, schools and carers to deliver high-quality PEPs, lead data analysis and ensure multi-agency working is collaborative and effective.
