Job summary

RMG is partnering with an insurtech scale-up to hire a Backend Engineer for a permanent, full-time role. This UK-based remote position offers freedom to build modern distributed architecture from the ground up, with monthly team meet-ups and access to a London coworking space. Visa sponsorship is not available.

You will own backend services, design APIs, and contribute to ML pipelines while operating in an Agile environment with cross-functional peers.

Qualifications

• Deep commercial server-side development experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Proven API design, microservices architecture, and production-ready services.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and scale robust, high-performance backend microservices powered by Node.js and TypeScript.
• Design clean, reliable RESTful APIs and integrate services supporting mobile apps, core insurance features, and ML pipelines.
• Champion clean architecture principles, technical excellence, and distributed system reliability.
• Take complete end-to-end ownership of backend services with observability and resilience.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams to ship features rapidly.
