Job summary

RMG Digital in the United Kingdom is seeking a Backend Engineer to own scalable Node.js APIs and event-driven services powering core insurance platforms and real-time quotes. You’ll architect cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform and collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to ship robust features.

This remote-first role includes monthly in-person sessions and access to a London coworking space for those who prefer an office base, offering architecture autonomy, clean code

Qualifications

• Strong CS fundamentals and system design knowledge.
• Experience with production architecture and scalable backend systems.
• Ability to articulate complex architectural concepts to cross-functional teams.
• Comfort with agile/lean product environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Node.js backend services powering core platform workflows.
• Architect and scale cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform for high-throughput data pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver robust, greenfield features.
• Drive standards around Domain-Driven Design and Hexagonal Architecture with event-driven communication.
• Own production services including reliability, observability and on-call duties.
