Job summary

HMRC is recruiting a Customer Service Advisor (Telephony) to handle inbound calls about tax accounts. The role is remote-based but requires attending HMRC offices for induction and IT collection, with 37 hours per week on shifts from 9am–5pm or 10am–6pm.

You will be trained on multiple software packages and must be a confident IT user, with strong telephony and customer service skills, and willing to travel to HMRC sites when needed. DBS check and Right to Work are required.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service via telephone and other channels (email/web chat)
• Confident IT user with ability to learn multiple software packages
• Willingness to travel to HMRC locations to collect/return IT equipment
• Must pass a Standard DBS check and provide Right to Work in the UK

Responsibilities

• Handle inbound telephony queries about tax accounts with a focus on first-contact resolution
• Update HMRC systems and handle customer data sensitively
• Provide information, guidance and escalation where needed to assist customers
• Support customers over the telephone and through digital channels where required
