Job summary

Unknown is seeking a Subsidence Building Technician to manage property subsidence claims from mitigation to final repairs and settlement. This desk-based role focuses on coordinating investigations, repairs and contractors while controlling costs and aiming for timely settlements.

The ideal candidate will have subsidence or buildings insurance experience, strong building trades knowledge, and excellent customer service and report-writing skills.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in subsidence or buildings insurance claims.
• At least five years' extensive building or trade experience.
• A degree or relevant qualification in building surveying.

Responsibilities

• Manage subsidence claims through mitigation and repair stages to settlement.
• Communicate with policyholders, contractors and insurer clients by phone, email and written correspondence.
• Produce accurate technical reports within SLAs.
• Manage daily workloads and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and targets.
• Coordinate vegetation removal and drainage repairs to address subsidence causes.
• Prepare and update building repair scopes using in-house schedules of rates.
• Review contractor estimates to ensure costs are appropriate and controlled.
• Negotiate cash settlements with policyholders for building repairs.
• Manage panel contractors, monitor repair schedules, quality and costs.
• Settle claims within delegated authority.
• Maintain accurate claim records on IT systems.
• Ensure compliance with procedures and promote Treating Customers Fairly.
