Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for a fully remote role servicing projects primarily in Randburg, Gauteng. You will lead design efforts, perform advanced structural analyses, and prepare drawings and calculations in compliance with SANS/NBR codes.

Collaboration with architects and clients will be done remotely, with potential site visits if required. The ideal candidate holds a Master's in Structural/Civil Engineering, Pr Eng with ECSA, and 8+ years of experience in building

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is essential.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering design for buildings.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design process for new building projects and renovations, from concept to detailed design.
• Perform complex structural analysis using advanced software for steel, concrete, and other materials.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculation reports.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and National Building Regulations (NBR).
• Collaborate remotely with architects, other engineering disciplines, and clients.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and draughtspersons.
• Review shop drawings and respond to site queries during construction (remotely where possible).
• Conduct structural assessments of existing buildings and propose rehabilitation strategies.
• Manage project deliverables and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Stay current with advancements in materials, software, and design methodologies.
