Job summary

Proficiency with FEA tools (STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ANSYS), steel/concrete/composite materials, and mentoring junior engineers are essential. Remote/hybrid work and relocation support are available.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Structural Mechanics, or Civil Engineering with a strong structural focus.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA or eligibility to register.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in structural analysis and design of mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ANSYS).
• Experience with steel, concrete, and composites materials.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for mechanical systems and related structures using FEA and other tools.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international codes (SANS, AISC, Eurocode).
• Develop detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations for structural components.
• Collaborate with civil engineers and project managers to integrate designs into project plans.
• Conduct structural integrity assessments and failure analyses on existing structures.
• Review and approve designs prepared by junior engineers and external consultants.
• Manage project timelines and resources for structural engineering tasks.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
• Stay updated on advancements in structural engineering principles and software.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
