Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Software Architect to lead the design and development of scalable software systems in a remote-first fintech environment. You will shape technical vision and architecture while collaborating with engineers and product managers from around the world, including Randburg, Gauteng, from your home office.

The role focuses on setting standards, mentoring teams, selecting technologies, and ensuring security and performance across platforms in a fully remote context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 9+ years of software experience with 4+ years in architecture.
• Proven record designing large-scale systems.
• Strong grasp of design principles and data structures.
• Exposure to multiple languages and cloud/microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, reliable software systems.
• Set development standards, patterns and best practices.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
• Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensure security, performance, and scalability of apps.
• Oversee implementation with architectural guidance and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues.
• Contribute to roadmap planning and tech decisions.
• Stay updated on new trends and technologies.
