Placements24 is seeking a Lead Software Architect to drive the technical vision and architectural design of complex software systems. This fully remote role offers flexibility to work from anywhere, with Randburg, Gauteng references noted as a distant operations site.

You will define architectural strategies, select technologies, and guide development teams to ensure scalable, robust software products. Strong design pattern knowledge and cloud experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Software Architect, Senior Software Engineer, or Tech Lead.
• Deep understanding of software design principles and architectural patterns (Microservices/SOA).
• Proficiency in Java, C#, Python, Node.js, or JavaScript.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Docker/Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of database design and performance tuning.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to lead and influence technical teams remotely.

Responsibilities

• Define and document the overall software architecture for new and existing systems.
• Lead design and development of scalable, high-performing software solutions.
• Evaluate and select technologies, frameworks, and tools to meet requirements.
• Provide technical leadership to development teams across the SDLC.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate business needs into specs.
• Establish architectural best practices, coding standards, and patterns.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.
