Job summary

Opus Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Ruby & AI Platform) to join the AI Events team on a remote freelance basis. You will design trigger systems connecting GitLab events to AI-powered workflows and integrate third-party events from Jira, Jenkins, and Slack.

You will contribute to the core event platform, ensure high availability, and work across a multi-service Ruby on Rails ecosystem with AI-driven capabilities.

Qualifications

• Deep commercial experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails in a large production monolith.
• Proven track record building user-facing products that integrate Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Extensive experience designing and operating large-scale, high-availability systems.
• Hands-on experience developing agentic systems and workflows for autonomous AI agents.
• Ability to learn emerging AI capabilities quickly while delivering results.
• Strong written communication for asynchronous collaboration in a remote, globally distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Design and build trigger systems connecting GitLab events to AI-powered workflows.
• Develop integrations for third-party events from Jira, Jenkins, and Slack.
• Contribute to the core event platform enabling AI features to govern workflows.
• Architect systems for high availability, reliability, and throughput.
• Build and maintain production functionality within a Ruby on Rails monolith
• Influence product and architecture direction across a multi-service environment.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and AI platform teams to expand trigger capabilities.
• Participate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 on-call rotations for production, security, and urgent issues.
