Job summary

Phaidra is hiring an AI Research Engineer to help build the cognitive and behavioral layer of our agents. You will shape how our agents think, communicate, and decide by designing prompts, guardrails, evaluation systems, and robust reasoning patterns that operate across Phaidra Prism, Slack/Teams integrations, and future autonomous workflows.

Qualifications

• Strong applied AI, ML, data science, or software engineering background.
• Experience working with LLMs, agents, copilots, or AI systems that reason over tools and context.
• Ability to translate ambiguous problems into concrete experiments, prototypes and evals.

Responsibilities

• Design and improve agent reasoning frameworks using tools, telemetry, ontology, and domain logic.
• Define and maintain agent personalities, communication patterns, and escalation rules across the portfolio.
• Develop prompts, system instructions, tool-use policies, and execution loops for reliable industrial use.
• Build and maintain agent evaluations to measure behavioral quality and alignment with business needs.
• Translate expertise into reusable reasoning patterns and evaluation rubrics.
• Analyze production interactions and feedback to identify successes and drifts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve agent reliability and usefulness.
• Support agents in reasoning over derived tags, alarms, and customer constraints.
• Keep abreast of state-of-the-art in agent AI, evaluation methods, and tool use.
