Job summary

Addepar is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to build agentic AI capabilities for strategic clients. You will work from problem understanding to production, designing agent behavior and integrating tools, while collaborating with engineering to ship scalable features.

You will be close to users, iterating quickly based on feedback and client needs, with occasional travel and timezone considerations.

Qualifications

• Proven professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python experience; primary language on team.
• Experience with LLM APIs, including function calling and structured outputs.
• Comfort with SQL for data exploration and AI workflows.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex).
• Built something from zero to one; bias for action.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-powered agents and tools end-to-end for clients.
• Design and implement LLM integrations with prompt engineering and function calls.
• Define evaluation criteria and build test harnesses for AI systems.
• Work directly with clients to validate AI behavior and iterate.
• Collaborate with engineering to generalize client work into product features.
• Contribute to shared AI infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
• Monitor and maintain production AI systems for reliability and cost.
