Job summary

British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) is seeking a Patient Safety Lead to drive safety excellence within our maternity & reproductive health services. This home-based role requires travel across the Midlands and reports to senior management to implement the Safety Strategy with transparency and continuous learning.

You will lead risk reviews, manage incidents, and develop national safety initiatives while promoting a culture of learning and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in patient safety or clinical governance within healthcare.
• Experience undertaking incident investigations and producing learning investigation reports.
• Knowledge of governance, risk management and assurance frameworks.
• UK professional registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on patient safety to divisional leaders and managers.
• Lead clinical risk reviews and audits to ensure standards.
• Embed the Safety Strategy and promote a fair and just culture.
• Investigate incidents using human factors methodologies and derive lessons.
• Support incident response management and advise staff.
• Monitor incident themes and perform system safety analyses.
• Assist local teams in developing and assuring action plans.
• Share learning to contribute to national safety strategies.
