Job summary

Quantum Solutions is seeking a skilled Patent Attorney to own and manage its patent portfolio on a project basis. You will draft, file and respond to patent applications, work with the CEO and technical leads, and guide deadlines and actions. Experience with AI-assisted patent work is essential.

This remote contractor role averages about 20 hours per month, offering flexibility to align with filing deadlines and project activity while delivering commercially focused counsel.

Qualifications

• Qualified UK Patent Attorney or equivalent professional qualification.
• STEM degree in materials science, chemistry, physics or related field.
• Experience using generative AI and other AI tools for patent research, drafting and portfolio management.
• Experience drafting, reviewing and prosecuting technically complex patent applications in advanced materials, optical or imaging tech or related fields.
• Strong understanding of patent office procedures, timelines and formal requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively with scientists, engineers, executives and external counsel while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ongoing and future patent applications with CEO and project leads.
• Track application status, deadlines, milestones, costs and business actions.
• Draft patent applications, claims, descriptions and supporting materials.
• Respond to office actions, search reports and correspondence from patent offices.
• Identify patentable inventions with technical teams and translate concepts into robust disclosures.
• Use AI-enabled tools for patent research and drafting with professional judgement and confidentiality controls.
