Job summary

CBSbutler is seeking an experienced Obsolescence Management Engineer for a 12-month remote contract to support a major defence programme.

You will manage obsolescence risks, investigate Change Queries, develop mitigation strategies, and produce technical solution documentation in line with IEC 62402:2019 and AS-1111 guidelines where applicable.

Role requires independent work from a UK-based remote setting with strong stakeholder coordination across engineering, support and delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Proven obsolescence management experience in engineering or defence environments.
• Experience managing Change Queries (CQIs), technical investigations and lifecycle support issues.
• Knowledge of IEC 62402:2019 Obsolescence Management principles.
• Experience producing technical reports, solution papers and engineering evidence documentation.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Operate under the project Obsolescence Management Plan (OMP) and keep it current.
• Review and update the OMP in line with project plans and milestones.
• Investigate obsolescence-related Change Query Issues and prioritise by KPIs.
• Assess risks and implement mitigation strategies per standards, delivering technical recommendations.
• Produce solution documentation and ensure it meets acceptance criteria.
