Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Process Engineer to drive innovation in water treatment systems for industrial clients worldwide. This remote-first role demands expert leadership, deep knowledge of desalination, wastewater treatment, and membrane technologies, and the ability to guide multi-disciplinary teams from anywhere.

You will design, model, and optimize processes, develop PFDs/P&IDs, and oversee pilots and commissioning while ensuring regulatory compliance and safety.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of process engineering experience with water treatment, wastewater management, and desalination technologies.
• Experience with process design, simulation (Aspen Water, HYSYS), and P&ID development.
• Strong understanding of water chemistry and membrane processes (RO, UF, NF).
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex engineering projects and leading technical teams.
• Excellent client-facing communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and deliver high-quality results remotely.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of water treatment and process systems from concept to detailed engineering.
• Model and optimize water treatment processes using simulation software for efficiency and resource recovery.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery within budget.
• Collaborate with clients to understand needs and provide expert technical consultation.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and operating procedures for water treatment plants.
• Oversee pilot studies and full-scale plant commissioning and startup.
• Ensure designs comply with environmental regulations, industry standards, and safety protocols.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in water treatment, desalination, and sustainability.
• Mentor and guide junior process engineers within the remote team structure.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide expert analysis on water treatment challenges.
