Job summary

Agilis Recruitment is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design and develop scalable backend services in C#/.NET, with AWS and PostgreSQL. You will mentor engineers, drive API & microservices development, and integrate AI-assisted tools into the workflow. The role offers remote options with Cheltenham Spa as a base and a salary in the £70k–£75k DOE range.

You'll work on modern platforms, contribute to architecture decisions, and ensure code quality through reviews and automated testing.

Qualifications

Commercial Software Engineering experience with C# and .NET.
Experience working as a Senior/Lead engineer acting as a technical Lead.
Experience building backend services and REST APIs.
Understanding of event-driven, asynchronous or service-based architectures.
Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
Experience with automated testing, source control and code reviews.
Ability to work from technical documentation and requirements.
Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

Act as a Technical lead, Mentoring other Engineers and performing code Reviews.
Build and maintain production software using C# and .NET.
Develop backend services, APIs and event-driven applications.
Work with PostgreSQL and AWS cloud technologies.
Contribute to microservices, integrations and distributed systems.
Support UI development using Blazor where required.
Write automated tests and participate in peer code reviews.
Troubleshoot issues and support production systems.
Translate requirements into technical tasks and contribute to delivery estimates.
Use AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, as part of the development process.
