Job summary

Agilis Recruitment is partnering with a global technology organisation to hire a Lead Software Engineer in Cheltenham Spa or remote. The role focuses on C#/.NET backend, AWS, APIs and event-driven architectures, with AI-assisted development tools enabling faster delivery.

You will mentor engineers, drive microservices, and contribute to platform evolution. The position offers hybrid working options with a salary of £70k–£75k depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Commercial software engineering experience with C# and .NET.
• Senior/Lead engineer with technical leadership experience.
• Experience building backend services and REST APIs.
• Understanding of event-driven, asynchronous or service-based architectures.
• Experience with PostgreSQL relational databases.
• Experience with automated testing, source control and code reviews.
• Ability to work from technical documentation and requirements.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Technical lead and mentoring other Engineers.
• Build and maintain production software using C# and .NET.
• Develop backend services, APIs and event-driven applications.
• Work with PostgreSQL and AWS cloud technologies.
• Contribute to microservices, integrations and distributed systems.
• Support UI development using Blazor where required.
• Write automated tests and participate in peer code reviews.
• Troubleshoot issues and support production systems.
• Translate requirements into technical tasks and contribute to delivery estimates.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot.
