Job summary

Parcks Inc. seeks a Driver HAL Engineer to build a hardware abstraction layer that unifies diverse devices across x86, ARM, and RISC-V. You will design HALs to keep SP hardware portable, clean, and vendor-agnostic, enabling a kernel to access devices through stable interfaces.

You will collaborate with drivers and kernel teams, ensure lightweight and auditable HALs, and contribute across multi-architecture projects in a remote-first setup with in-person Brighton gatherings.

Qualifications

• Strong in system-level C programming and OS portability.
• Experience designing HALs or kernel interfaces.
• Familiar with multi-arch development and hardware APIs.
• Proficient in debugging and hardware tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain HAL frameworks for Umbrella OS.
• Abstract device-specific code into clean interfaces.
• Collaborate with driver and kernel engineers for integration.
• Ensure HALs remain lightweight, open, and auditable.
• Deep knowledge of hardware APIs and OS driver frameworks.
• Low-level C programming.
• Experience in embedded systems or OS portability projects.
• Knowledge of GPU and accelerator abstractions.
• Contributions to multi-architecture projects.
