Job summary

Hitachi Energy UK Limited is seeking a Commissioning Engineer for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) to strengthen the UK energy network. You will lead safe, timely testing and commissioning across the UK after a comprehensive training program.

This role requires MV/HV GIS experience, and GIS commissioning certification is desirable. A valid UK driving licence and strong communication skills are essential. We offer hybrid/remote work and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in electrical engineering or HNC equivalent.
• Experience in testing and commissioning MV/HV switchgear.
• Certification in GIS commissioning is desirable.
• Analytical and proactive problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail with focus on safe, reliable switchgear handover.
• Good communication skills across all levels.
• Valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of on-site testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Ensure GIS switchgear functionality and measurements meet specifications.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects safely and successfully.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement quality assurance measures.
• Build relationships with customers and pursue new business opportunities.
• Prepare field reports, protocols, and site progress updates.
