Job summary

Hitachi Energy UK is seeking an on-site Field Service Engineer to coordinate testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of GIS switchgear, ensuring alignment with project specifications and safety standards.

You will leverage GIS expertise to support decision-making, collaborate with stakeholders, and deliver high-quality field reports while upholding Hitachi Energy values.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in electrical engineering or HNC equivalent with demonstrable experience.
• Experience in testing and commissioning MV/HV switchgear and use of associated equipment.
• Certification in GIS commissioning is desirable (Technical training is provided).
• Analytical and proactive problem-solving skills to handle project challenges.
• High attention to detail and focus on handing over safe and reliable switchgear.
• Good communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels.
• Valid UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the coordination and execution of on-site testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities by ensuring functionality and measurements are in accordance with the specifications
• Use your working knowledge of Gas Insulated Switchgear to make informed decisions on technical matters
• Proactively collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects/services are safely and successfully delivered
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement necessary quality assurance measures to minimize project risks
• Build relationships with our customers, pursue new business opportunities, and ensure a high level of satisfaction
• Prepare field-related reports, protocols, and updates on site progress

• Good communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels

• Valid UK Driving License
