Job summary

Sheridan Maine is partnering with a well-established organisation in Poole to recruit an experienced Payroll Manager for the Finance team. The role is full-time, offers remote-first working with Dorset office attendance typically twice a month, and oversees end-to-end payroll for ~2,000 employees across multiple pay groups.

The successful candidate will lead a small payroll team, ensure accurate and timely payments, stay compliant with HMRC, PAYE, NI, pensions and employment legislation, and

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing a complex, high-volume payroll function.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation and pension administration.
• Experience leading and developing a payroll team.
• Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end payroll process for ~2,000 employees across multiple payrolls.
• Lead, support and develop a payroll team.
• Ensure accurate processing of salaries, overtime, allowances, deductions and statutory payments.
• Maintain compliance with HMRC, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and employment legislation.
• Oversee payroll reconciliations, year-end processes and audits.
• Manage payroll systems, testing, updates and improvements.
• Work with HR and Finance to provide payroll advice and support to senior stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen controls.
