Job summary

Sheridan Maine is partnering with a well‑established organisation to recruit a Development Finance Manager to join its Finance team in Poole. This remote‑first role involves overseeing financial accounting, control and reporting for a substantial development programme.

The successful candidate will have a recognised accounting qualification and a strong background in financial accounting and reporting, with good Excel capabilities and the ability to partner with operational teams.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Experience in financial accounting, control or development accounting.
• Knowledge of fixed assets, capex, WIP, impairments and balance sheet management.
• Experience in month-end and year-end reporting and audits.
• VAT knowledge relating to development or construction activities.
• Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capabilities.
• Able to explain financial information to operational teams and provide practical advice.
• Experience in property development or capital projects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the financial accounting and control of development projects.
• Manage development WIP, assets under construction and transfer to fixed assets.
• Review project expenditure for capitalization, impairments and provisions.
• Oversee development-related balance sheet accounts, reconciliations and controls.
• Manage grant funding accounting and VAT/CIS compliance.
• Support month-end and year-end reporting, including statutory accounts and audits.
• Collaborate with development teams and project managers to provide financial guidance.
• Produce financial analysis and reporting to support project performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting across the programme.
