Job summary

Aveni is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and grow one of our engineering teams. This people-first role focuses on performance, growth, and culture, while partnering with Product and the Lead Engineer to foster ownership and high autonomy.

You will drive hiring, design better ways of working, and set the standard for responsible AI-assisted engineering, with a strong engineering background to credibly contribute in technical discussions.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineering teams with strong ownership and culture building.
• Proven track record of growing teams and delivering with high autonomy.
• Hands-on technical background in modern web technologies (Node.js, Python, React).

Responsibilities

• Own performance, development, and progression of your team.
• Own individual performance of direct reports with honest feedback and growth opportunities.
• Build a self-organised team and reduce reliance on you for processes.
• Partner with Product on roadmaps and ensure engineering context is understood.
• Oversee delivery, unblock engineers, and meet commitments.
• Identify patterns in team operations and improve workflows and tooling.
• Stay close to code to discuss technical trade-offs and tooling improvements.
• Drive hiring with Recruitment and design interview processes.
• Set norms for responsible AI-assisted engineering.
