Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Firearms Caseworker for a 4-month contract with Essex Police. This remote role requires handling applications, renewals, and licensing processes within a busy environment while ensuring compliance with legal standards.

The successful candidate will support the Firearms Licensing Team, manage multiple systems, and provide excellent customer service. Training is provided. Remote work is available for this position.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year in a busy administrative role.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Proficient IT skills with experience using multiple databases and computer systems.
• Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in a public sector or regulatory environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process applications, renewals, variations, permits and land exemptions for firearms and shotguns.
• Maintain and update records on NFLMS.
• Create and modify records on the PNC.
• Conduct vetting checks and assess applicant suitability.
• Obtain and assess GP reports and other documentation.
• Prepare detailed case files for Firearms Enquiry Officers.
• Handle payments and prepare certifications for approval.
• Provide guidance on firearms licensing procedures.
• Track progress and follow up on inquiries and reports.
