Hatched Recruitment Group is seeking an organised Firearms Caseworker in Essex to support a busy police team. You will process firearms and shotgun certificate applications, renewals and variations, update records and conduct checks on applicants and certificate holders.

The role requires accurate data entry, strict adherence to procedures and handling sensitive information with discretion. Ideally you have GCSEs in Maths and English, at least one year of admin experience in a high-volume

• Strong organisational skills to manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Proven administrative experience in a busy office environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication with officers, applicants and the public.
• Good IT skills and confidence using multiple systems/databases.
• Ability to follow policies, procedures and legislation.

• Process firearms and shotgun certificate applications, renewals, variations and cancellations.
• Update and maintain accurate records across databases and systems.
• Carry out checks on applicants and certificate holders, reviewing information and reports.
• Prepare case files and review reports for approval or escalation.
• Respond to enquiries from police officers, applicants and the public by phone, email and in person.
• Monitor progress, chase outstanding information, and meet deadlines.
• Maintain records relating to certificate holders and changes of address, transfers and seizures.
• Identify expired certificates and cases requiring action.
• Support the team with admin duties and train new staff when required.
