Job summary

Reed is seeking a Financial Accounting Lead to provide an effective service to internal and external users of financial information, ensuring robust financial control and compliance. This temporary, ongoing role is fully remote, offering 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

You will lead the finance strategy, manage statutory accounting, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Treasury, and income forecasting, while guiding a team.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant with public sector background.
• Significant experience managing comprehensive finance functions.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting systems.
• Proficient in Excel and accountancy software.
• Proven track record of meeting KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure effective financial processes and controls are in place, complying with audit requirements, policies, accounting standards, and best practices.
• Utilise finance systems efficiently to add value to stakeholders and improve service delivery.
• Lead the production of annual reports and statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with internal and external stakeholder requirements, including statutory audits and reporting to the Department of Health and Social Care.
• Manage financial policies and controls, regularly reviewing and updating them as necessary.
• Oversee the accounting of different funding streams, ensuring adherence to Managing Public Money guidelines.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors to manage and implement corrective action plans.
• Conduct team briefings, one-on-one meetings, and manage staff performance and development, including training and performance management.
• Collaborate with peers and managers to continuously review and develop the finance department's activities and services.
