Placements24 client, a global leader in industrial automation, is seeking a Remote Electrical Engineer to design, develop and implement automation and control systems for manufacturing clients. This fully remote role allows you to work from anywhere within South Africa, with no relocation or daily commute.

You will collaborate with a distributed team, program PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron), design HMI/SCADA, create wiring diagrams, and ensure safety and compliance while advancing

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics required.
• Minimum 5 years in electrical engineering with automation focus.
• Proficient in PLC platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron) and HMI/SCADA software.
• Strong remote troubleshooting and independent work capability.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of cutting‑edge automation and control systems for a diverse range of manufacturing clients. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical control systems for industrial automation projects, including PLC programming, HMI/SCADA design, and motor control systems.
• Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD software.
• Specify electrical components, sensors, actuators, and control hardware.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and control system issues remotely, providing technical support to installation and commissioning teams.
• Collaborate closely with clients and internal project teams through virtual meetings and digital communication tools to define project requirements and ensure successful delivery.
• Develop and implement electrical testing procedures and documentation.
• Stay current with advancements in automation technology, including robotics, IIoT, and artificial intelligence in industrial applications.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards and best practices for remote engineering workflows.
• Manage project timelines and deliverables for assigned electrical engineering tasks.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations for industrial control systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a significant focus on industrial automation and control systems.
• Proficiency in programming common PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Omron) and HMI/SCADA software.
• Experience with electrical CAD software (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
• Excellent problem‑solving and diagnostic skills, particularly in a remote troubleshooting context.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage workload effectively in a remote environment.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
• A dedicated home office setup with reliable high‑speed internet connectivity.
• Experience with robotics integration or machine vision systems is a plus.
