Job summary

Primis is seeking a Director to lead one of our platform teams (Systems, Network, Identity, or Reliability & Performance). You’ll be the technical authority, hands-on, and responsible for people, roadmap and results.

Remote in the UK or Ireland with the right to work, you’ll write and review code, manage IaC and incidents, and drive automation across the platform. You’ll embed PCI DSS and SOX controls, while promoting AI-assisted engineering and self-service capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience leading production engineering teams, including hiring and performance management.
• Hands on expertise in systems, network, reliability or identity.
• Strong IaC (Terraform, Ansible) plus secrets management, service discovery, OIDC and observability.
• Public cloud experience (AWS and/or Azure, GCP or OCI).
• Experience running production services in regulated environments (PCI DSS, SOX).
• Daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) and an understanding of MCP and agents.

Responsibilities

• Leading, hiring and developing a team of platform engineers.
• Setting technical direction and owning your team's architecture and design decisions.
• Turning your area of the estate into self service, API driven capabilities.
• Writing and reviewing code, IaC and designs every week, and going deep in incidents.
• Owning the roadmap, quarterly plans and delivery, measured by tickets eliminated and service levels.
• Making AI assisted engineering the norm across your team.
• Building PCI DSS and SOX controls into the platform with automatic evidence.
