Job summary

Rowden, based in the UK, is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to define and lead the internal developer platform that underpins how we develop, deploy, and operate advanced technology. You'll shape architecture, ensure security by design, and raise engineering standards across functions including AI/ML integration.

This hands-on leadership role requires working closely with Software, Infrastructure, ML, IT, Product, QA, and Security teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, building, and operating engineering platforms at scale.
• Deep understanding of platform engineering, IaC, CI/CD, system design, and platform product thinking.
• Experience designing platforms that support AI workloads and orchestration at scale.
• Proven track record defining API strategies and integration layers between complex systems.
• Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, Terraform, and FluxCD in production.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver robust platform services and self-service infrastructure.
• Architect and evolve IDP capabilities and deployment workflows.
• Lead security, compliance, and best practices in platform design.
• Drive observability, monitoring, and reliability improvements across systems.
• Mentor engineers and raise the organisation's platform engineering standards.
