Job summary

Rimkus in the United Kingdom seeks a Director (Civil / Structural Engineering) to lead complex engineering assignments, deliver expert analyses, and manage client relationships. The role combines technical excellence, business development, and team leadership across regional projects.

The successful candidate will mentor staff, oversee multiple commissions, act as a technical authority, and contribute to industry forums and publications while fostering a high-performing team culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from a recognised institution.
• Professional memberships (e.g., MICE, MIStructE).
• Dispute bodies memberships and expert witness accreditation (Academy of Experts, Expert Witness Institute, RICS, etc).
• Desirable postgraduate degree in Construction Law, Arbitration or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and author expert opinions and investigation findings for civil/structural matters.
• Lead and manage engineering commissions, setting methodologies and delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Support regional business development with client pitches, proposals and technical presentations.
• Provide line management, mentoring, and development of consulting staff.
• Mentor engineers and consultants, identifying skills gaps and driving learning initiatives.
• Develop trusted client relationships and manage expectations across stakeholders.
• Monitor financial performance and contribute to revenue and profitability targets.
• Maintain industry leadership through publications, conferences, and professional activities.
