Job summary

VIQU IT Recruitment is seeking a Software Engineer to join a UK-based organisation with remote work and occasional travel to Leeds. You will design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot while extending to front-end tasks with Vue.js and Node.js.

The role emphasizes high-quality code, automated testing, and collaboration within an Agile team, with opportunities to contribute across the tech stack and improve CI/CD processes.

Qualifications

• Production-grade software development experience with backend systems
• Strong Java and Spring Boot proficiency for backend services
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Experience with Node.js and exposure to frontend (Vue.js)
• Cloud exposure; AWS preferred
• CI/CD, Git and DevOps practices familiarity
• Experience working in Agile environments

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend applications and services using Java/Spring Boot
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs to support business-critical systems
• Contribute to frontend development using Vue.js and Node.js as needed
• Deliver software across full development lifecycle from design to deployment
• Write clean, well-tested code and maintain quality standards
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming and knowledge sharing
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers and delivery teams
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to improve delivery
• Troubleshoot issues and optimize performance
