Job summary

Haven is seeking a Lead Engineer (AI) to guide our technology squad. The role is remote-first with occasional visits to Hemel Hempstead, contributing to AI-enabled engineering practices, architecture, and delivery, while mentoring engineers and aligning with product goals.

You’ll spend most time hands-on, shaping technical standards, collaborating across squads, and driving continuous improvement in software quality, security, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Extensive software engineering experience in AI-enabled contexts.
• Proven Lead Engineer with ability to foster productive teams.
• Strong knowledge of AI-enabled software engineering practices and tooling.
• Proficiency in one of C#, Dart, or TypeScript and related frameworks

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction and architecture for your squad.
• Define and evolve the squad backlog with Product Manager and UX Designer.
• Lead design and implementation of high-quality solutions.
• Own the squad’s engineering practice and AI-enabled ways of working.
• Communicate progress, risks and decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Coach, mentor and develop squad engineers.
• Collaborate with other squads to drive engineering improvements.
• Act as initial point of contact for engineering delivery issues.
• Contribute to simplifying Haven's digital estate.
• Continue to develop your software engineering capability.
