Job summary

Alignerr is seeking Back End Developers to design, build, and optimize server‑side systems and APIs powering AI products. This fully remote hourly contract role welcomes talent across the UK, with 10–40 hours per week and flexible scheduling for project work and AI‑adjacent infrastructure.

You will design robust back end services, data pipelines, and microservices, while ensuring performance and reliability at scale. Remote collaboration with distributed teams is a core part of the role.

Qualifications

• Proficient in one or more back end languages and frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust back end services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Build scalable server‑side architecture to support AI workloads.
• Write clean, well‑documented, and testable code following best practices.
• Integrate with databases, queues, cloud services, and third‑party APIs.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability as usage grows.
• Collaborate asynchronously with distributed teams of engineers and researchers.
• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct code reviews, and help with architectural decisions.
• Work independently on task‑based and project‑based assignments on your own schedule.
