Job summary

Watling Academy in Milton Keynes invites applications for a Religious Studies Teacher to join our outstanding team. This permanent role starts January 2027 with a salary from MPS1 (£34,069) to UPS3 (£52,835). A temporary Teaching and Learning role (TLR2 £8,100) may be available for the right candidate to lead RE.

You will design engaging lessons to promote critical thinking, empathy and cultural understanding, inspiring students across years 11–18 at a thriving, Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' school.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire students to explore rich religious beliefs and practices, including Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism and more.

The Role

Watling Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Religious Studies Teacher to inspire our students to explore the rich tapestry of religious beliefs and practices, including Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism and more.

Join us as a Religious Studies Teacher and you'll ignite curiosity and critical thinking, fostering an environment where questioning, evaluating and reasoning are not only encouraged but are fundamental to our educational ethos.

Your influence will extend into the realm of empathy and self-reflection. By exploring diverse religious traditions, students will develop a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and learn to empathise with individuals from varying backgrounds. Your guidance will facilitate meaningful reflection on personal beliefs and actions, encouraging students to consider their influence on others and the world around them.

About Watling Academy

Watling Academy is an Ofsted 'Outstanding' secondary school situated on the western edge of Milton Keynes, encompassing the Whitehouse and Fairfields developments. Opening in September 2020, our school is a new and vibrant learning community for students aged 11-18. We are excited to have opened the Watling Academy Sixth Form to our first cohort of Year 12 students in September 2025, which will provide further educational opportunities.
