Job summary

The Salvation Army Homes is seeking a Relief Support Worker to empower vulnerable women and provide cover for essential duties within our supported housing service in Guildford. You will work with a dedicated team to ensure safe, trauma-informed accommodation, supporting recovery and transforming lives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide relief cover across the rota to ensure essential duties are carried out effectively.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents by responding to emergencies and contacting emergency services when required.
  • Encourage and support residents to engage in activities that develop skills, independence and confidence.
  • Explain service responsibilities under Licence and Good Neighbour agreements to residents.
  • Address maintenance and repair reports following established procedures.
  • Comply with safeguarding, health and safety policies and record-keeping requirements.

Job description

We are looking for a Relief Support Worker to empower vulnerable women to achieve positive outcomes. As a Relief Support Worker, you will provide cover for essential duties within our supported housing service in Guildford. Reporting to the Service Manager or Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in delivering safe, supported accommodation to clients with a range of needs, using a trauma-informed approach. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a wider team dedicated to providing safe homes, supporting recovery, and transforming lives.

What you'll be doing
  • Provide relief cover across the rota to ensure essential duties are carried out effectively.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents by responding to emergency situations and contacting the appropriate emergency services when required.
  • Encourage and support residents to engage in a range of activities that enable their skills, strengths, and independence to be developed and recognised.
  • Actively engage residents in understanding the service and their responsibilities under their Licence Agreement and Good Neighbour Agreement.
  • Respond promptly to reports of property repairs and maintenance issues within the accommodation, following appropriate procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of and comply with Salvation Army Homes' safeguarding, health and safety policies and procedures, reporting and addressing concerns in line with local requirements.
  • Maintain accurate client records, reports, and outcome measurements in accordance with Salvation Army Homes' systems and record-keeping requirements.
  • Relevant experience of working with vulnerable client groups.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and record-keeping skills.
  • A values-driven approach that is aligned with our mission and organisational values.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Shifts will mainly be at weekends and will typically be either 8:00am to 4:00pm or 3:00pm to 11:00pm, with occasional sleep-in shifts until 8:00am the following morning.
