Job summary

Salvation Army Homes is seeking a Complex Needs Support Worker for South West Surrey Refuge to assist survivors of domestic abuse facing multiple challenges. The role focuses on safeguarding, skill-building and helping individuals move towards independence in a trauma-informed, supportive environment.

You will work Monday to Friday with occasional evenings and weekends, travel to meetings, and collaborate with health, housing and social care partners to deliver high-quality services.

  • Provide trauma-informed support in an accommodation-based setting.

  • Maintain a safe home environment and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to contract delivery and KPIs on efficiency, quality and service.

Having secured a new contract, we are currently going through a period of change and have a vacancy for a Complex Needs Support Worker at South West Surrey Refuge.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, and caring person to support survivors of domestic abuse who face multiple challenges, such as physical health issues, mental health conditions, and substance misuse. This is an opportunity to safeguard survivors of domestic abuse and create positive opportunities for them, helping to restore their skills and confidence and support them in moving towards independence.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Provide effective, trauma-informed support through teamwork in an accommodation-based setting.
  • Promote and develop independent living skills, supporting women to achieve successful move-on outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple agencies involved in the care and support of women and their children.
  • Help maintain a safe home environment and ensure compliance with regulatory and service requirements.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of the local authority contract, supporting organisational objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to efficiency, quality, and customer service standards.
What you’ll bring
  • Relevant experience in housing, support work, health and social care, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience working with people with complex needs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A values-driven approach aligned with our mission and organisational objectives.
  • The ability to work in a trauma-informed way, recognising and responding to the impact of trauma.
  • An understanding of, and experience working within, psychologically informed environments.
  • The ability to build positive and professional relationships with survivors of domestic abuse, colleagues, and external partners.
Working Arrangements
  • This is a service-based role working Monday to Friday during office hours, with occasional evening and weekend shifts. The role also includes shared on-call duties as part of the team.
  • Travel is required to attend professional meetings, team training sessions, and conferences.
