Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is seeking a security officer to patrol multiple DWP sites across the region. You will ensure safety for staff and visitors, respond to security incidents, and coordinate with police and emergency services as required.

The role requires flexibility to cover various sites and a full UK driving licence. Prior security experience is essential and a DS licence is preferred. You may be asked to cover short-term absences and travel across listed locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and secure environment for the DWP staff, visitors, and property.
• Patrol the premises regularly to identify potential security threats.
• Respond effectively to emergencies or suspicious situations.
• Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
• Provide a high level of customer service and assist staff and visitors in any security-related matter.
• Conduct routine security checks and submit incident reports as appropriate.
• Adhere to Mitie and DWP security policies, procedures, and regulations

Flexibility to travel, as this role will cover various DWP sites within the region (Must be able to cover Aylesbury, Reading, High Wycombe, Slough, Maidenhead, Didcot, Newbury, Aldershot, Guildford, Farnborough jobcentres etc. Ideally the officer should be able to drive and have his or her own vehicle to cover short term absences at all these jobcentres. So flexibility is very important)

Full UK driving licence required.

Security and Health & Safety

• Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
• Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
• Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
• To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
• Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
• Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
• To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
