Job summary

YMCA Bournemouth is seeking a Relief Child Contact Centre Practitioner to support children and families who cannot live together. The role is based at the Child Contact Centre, a NACCC-accredited service focused on a safe, neutral environment with the child at the heart of every interaction.

You will observe supervised family time, work with diverse families, and ensure a non-judgemental, supportive setting while maintaining professional boundaries and safeguarding responsibilities.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
• Experience or understanding of working sensitively with children, families or individuals who may be experiencing challenging circumstances.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice.
• Understanding of safeguarding and maintaining professional boundaries.
• Experience of working within a child contact, family support, childcare, social care or related environment.
• Knowledge or experience of supervised or supported family time/contact arrangements.
• Experience of working within a safeguarding framework.

Responsibilities

• Observe and support supervised and supported family time within the Child Contact Centre.
• Work closely with children, families and colleagues while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment prioritising the child’s welfare.
• Communicate effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Provide clear written information relating to family contact sessions.
• Respond sensitively to individuals experiencing stress or challenging circumstances.
• Follow YMCA Bournemouth safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Promote equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice in all aspects of the role.
